ROCK: Acoustic, ROCK: Folk Rock
A new voice has set out to help revive singer/songwriter based music. That voice belongs to Brian Grissom. Writing memorable, honest lyrics and hooky melodies, Brian blends together rock, pop, country, and folk into his own mix that is not only catchy, but addicting. Listeners will find themselves humming away at work and singing along in the car ride home.
Unafraid of breaking into new territory, Brian breathes new life into the stand-and-deliver standard of acoustic singer-songwriters. Whether it’s his on-the-spot improvised songs about the audience or his storytelling between songs, Brian’s shows are never alike and not to be missed.
With a dynamic voice ranging from breathy and soft to loud and resonant, his vocal fireworks add an unexpected punch to his stage presence. Brian isn’t just heard; he is felt. No matter if he’s tearing into an emotional section or burning through a rocker, Brian Grissom is a seasoned performer well beyond his years. He grabs ahold of his audience and does not let go.
Brian first picked up a guitar in 1999 to jam along to Guns n Roses and AC/DC records. When he moved to college he bought an acoustic guitar and changed direction. Soaring leads turned to rhythm fills as he quickly fell under the influence of songcrafters like James Taylor, Paul Simon, John Mellencamp and Bob Dylan. Brian began singing and writing in 2001 and his songs quickly developed their own style.
Brian began playing bars and dives around Wilmington, North Carolina in early 2002 and quickly gained a dedicated audience. Brian was writing and performing tirelessly until December of that year when he paused to home-record his first full-length album, From My Room (released January 2003). Doing all the work himself, including album art and manufacturing, he began selling his CDs online and at shows for $5. Without verbally pushing his album during shows, Brian sold 200 copies of From My Room exclusively in Wilmington. Brian’s highly anticipated 2nd album, The Places I Go, was released in early 2004 to rave reviews and acclaim from his contemporaries.
The Places I Go is an 11 track journey that every listener will relate to, and every listener will love.
