Details:
With the preference of jazzrock, funk, soul, hiphop and rock, Ties started in 1998 with his new project: Baseheadz. After having gained experience as a bassplayer, the calling to get more out of his bass became enormous. Bass players, like Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Mark King and Les Claypool were of big influence.
We go back to february 1997...
His former band went for a weekendtrip to England to record a demo. On sundaynight as they waited on the airport for their plane to go home, one of the bandmembers has reached out a cassette to ties. Can you imagin how it feels like when you''re standing at a big window, outside flowing rain and listening for the first time to DJ Shadow''s endtroducing? Since that day, some massive changes has took place in his way of making music!
His debut CD: Baseheadz & Beyond consist ten songs on which DJ Eniless and DJ Git Hyper, two turntablists, cooperated. The compositions are a mixture of turntablism, acidjazz and triphop in which Ties'' bass specialities play a leading role. The attractive, listenable and, not to forget, danceable songs, have found their way in cooperation with the sample and scratchingtechniques of nowadays. They will definitely find their way into diverse living rooms and clubs.
We can call his first release: "Baseheadz and Beyond" autobiographical. A search for identity, self development, but most of all a search for love. Baseheadz hits the stages with two bassplayers, a drummer, a keyboardplayer and a turntablist. Beside performing as a musician, his DJ skills is also a part of his music carreer in which he mixes Neo-soul, Hip Hop, Broken Beats and Nujazz to one eclectic DJ-set.
