Shanna Madhur, who has sung pop, folk songs, ghazals and devotional music with equal ease and aplomb, is a veteran of All India Radio and Doordarshan, the oldest TV network in India. She started her singing career with highly appreciated performances in the Children''s Program at AIR, New Delhi and later became a sought-after regular at numerous stage programs and concerts organized by AIR as well as various musical groups. As a native of New Delhi, she has accepted singing invitations to different parts of India - ranging from cities in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to as far as the rugged mountainous terrain of Laddakh. Later settled in the US, Shanna has been part of a famous music group ''Jhankar’ and has performed in various stage programs.
Shanna has two acclaimed CDs to her credit. A collection of her Punjabi folk songs that was released under the title of ‘Gul Bahar’ is already a huge hit with music lovers. Another, a compilation of Shabads (Sikh devotional songs) is scheduled to come out soon. Many a fan has praised a distinct trait in Shanna’s singing voice, calling it ‘Truly Spiritual’.
Be it a Shabad, a Bhajan, a romantic pop number, an Urdu ghazal, Shanna’s unique voice and exclusive style, imbue the song with a mellifluous quality all its own.
‘Mast Nigahon Ka Sharmana’ was originally composed by famous flute player and music director Prem Gupta and has been beautifully embellished with music by the renowned talented composer Har Bhajan Singh. Those who hear it know it is a unique and memorable number.
