Enyi-K (Kennedy Ng) (born May 30, 1961) is a pianist, conductor and composer from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is known as a great Latin, jazz and classical pianist with superb technical ability, and has played and recorded with many world-famous singers and musicians. Enyi-K lists some of his main influences as Michael Camilo and Chick Corea. He was born into a musical family and as a young child showed great aptitude for the piano and the acoustic bass. Although he enjoyed Latin percussion, it was his mother that sparked his interest the most, she registered him in the public elementary music school in Santo Domingo, capital of Dominican Republic.
The formal system of the music school taught Enyi to play in the classical style, and by age 17 he was playing with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of the Dominican Republic. Enyi studied for 9 years at the National Conservatory where Michael Camilo and Juan Luis Guerra studied music, and while developing his strong classical abilities was also heavily influenced by the bop tradition, and by the contemporary jazz of Chick Corea. His influences at this time also included Big Band Era music (Glen Miller) and George Taveras a well-known Latin and jazz Dominican Pianist.
As well as being an outstanding performer, Enyi is a talented composer and has written scores for several Spanish musical events as Enyi light, Teatro Nacional Santo Domigo, Dom. Metropolitano de la canción Manhattan Center 1995, International Festival de la canción OTIS 1990 and has performed in various prestigious halls in USA; Segundo festival del merengue Radio City Music Hall 1978, The White House 1981 Cuban independence day and was for 15 years music therapist in all psychiatric hospitals in Hudson County NJ.
In 2003 Enyi was the director judge of Gigantes del Mañana, national Univision TV show (Sábado Gigante)
Enyi has also performed and conducted many famous Latin singer and musicians as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and Johnny Pacheco. In Oct. 11, 2011 Enyi was the musical director of “Cuando se nace ídolo” Fernando Villalona, who is the most popular merengue and bolero singer in DR. In that event Enyi conducted the most popular merengue singers and was the arranger of the entire musical production, which was the bigger musical production ever at Teatro Nacional in Sto. Dgo. D.R.
