“Let The Music Play” takes a poke at some of the problems life presents but gives us a positive outlook. The song reminds us that some things seem to never change. “I wrote this song while I was living in a deep anxiety. I happened to catch a re-run of “All In The Family” where Archie Bunker (The very opinionated Father) was having a heated discussion with “Meathead” (The ultra educated son-in-law). Archie was complaining about taxes, the cost of gasoline & rising food prices. Meathead, who lived under Archie’s roof rent free, was coming to the defense of government assistance. It was a wake up call for me as I realized that some things never change. “All In The Family” first aired on television in 1971! I was a little kid then! I saw the re-run in 2009 and the song was a cathartic release of the anxiety I was experiencing from focusing on all the junk that was out of my control.
Here is a great focus:
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
