Justin LaRue was born in Philadelphia and raised in Elkins Park. Being in church was like being at home to him and just like many other babes in Christ, Justin always knew he loved the Lord, he just didn’t know how to express it. God has blessed each of His children with abilities and talents for Kingdom building here on Earth. Within Justin God instilled the gift of music. Starting on this path at the age of 17, the turn that life would take was never expected.
In his late teenage years, Justin was called upon to help-out a young Christian rap group called Changed 4 Christ. In the beginning he started off writing the hooks, until the members pushed for him to write lyrics of his own. After about two years and receiving the feeling that God wanted more from him in the ministry Justin decided to go solo. Unsure of where or how to start, he took some time to just write and to find exactly what the Lord had for him. Motivated to be something different and longing for a sense of freedom in creativity, Justin began his search for a band. It was also during this time that he became known as Justified.
The name Justified first came about as a play on words, Justin being his name at birth. Fortunately, after doing research in the bible, Justin found the meaning behind the word “Justified.” His searching made an impact on his life. Justin came across the word “predestined,” from Romans 8:30. Now knowing that all the things in his life were happening for a reason he was able to see more clearly the vision God had set before him. Three years after leaving Changed 4 Christ, Justified finally formed a band of his own, known as BandTastic.
The band consists of a bass player (Kahdeen Keel), a drummer (Harry Washington), two pianists (Calvin Kelly; Richard Jackson), a guitar player (Anthony Brock) and a percussionist (Jeremiah Chase).The chemistry of the band as a whole is definitely apparent through their music. Justin uses the flexibility of having a band, and through his musical growth he has begun to compose the foundation of the music that he writes to. Justified’s flavor and style alongside of BandTastic, creates a unique and un-comparable sound.
As Justified travels throughout the tristate area fulfilling his purpose in spreading the gospel, he has been blessed to touch the lives of others through his music. He has ministered alongside gospel artists such as; TWyse, Prayz1, BJ Shores and MSG, Iyso, Niko the Messenger, and His Own just to list a few and hopes to minister with many more.
Currently, Justified is working on his first album, "The Justification", which is scheduled to release the fall of 2010. He has been working with producers Ronin Williams and BJ Shores to complete his album. Justin plans to minister through music full time, spreading the gospel beyond the boarders of the tristate area. He is ready and willing to go as far as the Lord takes him, wherever the Spirit leads. Justin continues to grow in Christ and patiently waits for the doors that God will open.
