As somebody once said, I''m a jazz guitarist who plays blues and a blues guitarist who plays jazz. As child of the 1960''s I''m a product of the great blues explosion by then and is still the foundation of my playing. Later on the epiphany came when I discovered jazz. My influences then became Wes Montgomrey, Joe Pass, Grant Green, Barney Kessel, Miles, Monk etc. That led me to alot of study. I was fortunate as a New Yorker to be able to be a student of the late great Joe Monk. He laid down the foundation way back there in the 70''s and 80''s. Sight Reading, Theory and Harmony the works. I miss him terribly. There was alot of years of playing in all stiuations, Show Bands, Blues and R&B bands but always jazz. Finally this latest trio with the two wonderful players and artists. George Hoar on Bass and Piano and Brian Sullivan on Drums. Two very high energy experienced and spiritual players and who have re educated me and made me rember it''s all abou the music and not the player. Everything has influenced me and us in the recording of this CD. From Monk to Hendrix , it''s all in the pot cooking. This was truly a group effort and is my little tribute to my favorite musicians and to my teacher Joe Monk. It''s kind of my thesis paper for almost 50 yrs of playing. I dedicate it to my beautiful wife Viky who put up with me those late nights in the studio and all the angst and stuff. Gees! Any way I hope you enjoy it, Thanks for listening. Mike Zinna
