Born in Maryland at the tail end of the boomer generation, Will Colliver grew up with 60''s rock and contemporary folk influences from the Beatles to Gordon Lightfoot. He had early piano and school band musical training but spent more time with guitars, learning the songs of early rock bands and the singer songwriters that would re-shape the music business throughout the seventies and eighties.
Will followed traditional paths to college and career including earning a doctoral degree but never stopped playing and writing original songs and experimenting with early home recording techniques. After making a series of demos and browsing the early internet for possible outlets and opportunities, Will''s songs came to the attention of veteran producer and songwriter Johnny Pierce. Johnny and Joanna Pierce''s CedarHouse Productions outside of Nashville quickly became Will''s second home and a year of sessions there with a great cast of players produced a first studio album, Fading to Grey.
Juggling home responsibilities and music, Will managed to get out and play little after the album''s release however the album received national airplay and critical acclaim from reviewers, station programmers and fans and three songs earned Will Billboard songwriting awards. Despite rejections from major labels for lack of regional touring, and in the midst of the blossoming indie movement, Will continued to write songs quietly and continued to search for the right channels for his introspective lyrics and beautiful melodies.
The search led back to CedarHouse and a second album, Until I Fall Awake in 2002. Slightly edgier than his first album but with the same great production, "Fall Awake" showcased Will''s songwriting and garnered airplay across the nation.
Like so many artists, Will Colliver believes in his music and writes new songs constantly. He lives in Frederick, Maryland.
