Lisa traveled to Japan in November 2010 and fell in love with the Japanese culture and people. During her 2 week travels, she came up with the chorus and bridge while riding in the subway in Tokyo. When she arrived back to Los Angeles, she shared her adventures and enthusiasm with Ginny along with the chorus and bridge. After hearing Lisa''s description of what she experienced in Japan, Ginny surprised Lisa with Verse 1 & 2. The Hollywood Darlings recorded Tokyo, Japan with an amazing producing team, District 78, in Los Angeles in February 2011. They walked out of the studio, March 10th (U.S. time) with the final master 3 hours before the earthquake hit. Knowing of the devastation that hit Japan, they decided to hold off on releasing the song but then realized that maybe some good can come out of this fun dance song. The Hollywood Darlings released the song after speaking with Japanese friends who said they would like to know artists in America support them and that this song will help them to remember the good times while getting through the pain and rebuilding their beautiful country. So here you have it! We love you Japan and this is our ode to you!
