New England''s Finest Funk! Akashic Record is the funk brainchild of hammond organ whiz Beau Sasser and trombonist Brian Thomas, both staple on the northeast funk scene. The group began as a trio and quickly gained national notoriety with a performance at the 2003 New Orleans Jazz Fest. Morphing into a quintet lineup in 2004, this line-up recorded their debut release "New Days Ahead" and began to spread to funk throughout the Northeast. The current line-up of Brian Thomas on trombone, Jared Sims on baritone sax, Beau Sasser on organ, Steve Fell on guitar, and Peter MacLean on drums recorded and released AR most recent effort "Theosophy" in October of 2010. Playing consistently in the Northeast, their floor shakin'' live show continues to thrill capacity crowds night after night. With a focus on original compositions and interactive improvisation they have gone on to share the stage with legends Steely Dan, Michael MacDonald, Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire. Special guests have included Darryl McDaniels(Run DMC), Melvin Sparks, The JGB, Tom Sholz(Boston), Sam Kininger (Soulive), Jarrett Cordes(PM Dawn), John Ellis (Charlie Hunter Trio), Gordon Beedle (Jimmy Smith)and Fareed Haque(Garaj Mahal). ..
