There''s a yearning for trust in Alex Nackman, which manifests itself through honest songwriting that connects. As Nackman explains, "Much of the music surrounds why we as humans yearn to be close together and why we strive to be linked through love, family, friendship, even our work. That urge truly fascinates me. We can''t survive on our own."
Alex Nackman has traveled the world, been privileged to share some incredible show bills, landed more than two dozen television and film placements, and released 5 albums (with his 6th out in January 2011). He has established himself as a writer, producer, composer and artist with true staying power with songs that are not soon forgotten. Nackman has opened for Norah Jones, The Roots, Glen Phillips, and Zac Brown Band, among others, and has toured more than 700 shows worldwide between California and Italy with a growing following.
Drawing influence from New Wave acts such as The Smiths, New Order, and Duran Duran, Nackman combines an electro pop sound with elements of British rock, reminiscent of early U2 and The Cure. As All Music Guide''s William Ruhlmann writes, "Nackman''s throaty tenor creates a sound suggestive of Marc Cohn fronting Coldplay."
His 2011 release, “THIS REVOLUTION,” is the culmination of 2 years of songwriting as well as a 1-year hiatus from the tour road. Traveling between a cabin in New Hampshire, a studio in Eugene, Oregon and his home in Brooklyn, Nackman honed in on 40 new song ideas while also deciding to play every instrument on the record. “This Revolution” is a revealing album about longing for human bonding that showcases Nackman’s gritty wide-ranging vocals and his penchant for combining live and electronic elements within his cinematic-esque production. Nackman performed nearly every single instrument on the release, in addition, to producing the effort. "This Revolution" has been described as Alex Nackman''s most literate and passionate album to date.
Having been named an MTV Buzzworthy Artist, earned a spot on the Top-12 Artists in Performing Songwriter Magazine''s monthly ranking, and lauded by the BBC in London for his "electric fired gems," Nackman is pushing ahead without looking back while on the road as well as writing and composing music for television and film.
