Details:
Formed in 1999, The Commons is led by Trenton-born singer-songwriter Keith Monacchio. Guitarist Sean Glonek, bassist Tom McDonald, and drummer Tom Kale complete the original line-up, which debuted with the album Anchor in the Spring of 2000.
Fast on the heels of the release of Anchor, keyboardist Chris Bellis permanently joined the band and added a new dimension for the group''s sophomore album Eat Off The Vines (2001) and what most consider to be the group''s most artistic and critically successful effort Come On Get Gone (2003), although each album has its own distinct sound. The Commons have been described as "possessing a near-heroic quality delivering a forceful and gentle grace full of melodic guitar work and deep lyrics".
Six years later with over 600 shows logged, three full-length albums, an EP, several compilations (including the yet-to-be-released American Laundromat Records High School Reunion), and tracks in two independent movies, The Commons find themselves changing musical gears again with the much anticipated release of their fourth and latest full-length offering Dirt Waffle. Recorded between September 2004 and May 2005 at SRG Studios in South Brunswick, New Jersey, Dirt Waffle was mixed and mastered by lead-guitarist Sean Glonek and illustrates yet another dimension in the bands eclectic repertoire showing their refusal to be pigeonholed into one musical style. Released in June of 2005, with an 8-week heavy radio and advertising campaign through The Planetary Group, the album elegantly captures the beauty of graceful lyrics and simple rhythms. Ranging from full-blown productions to quick and simple pleasurable pop arrangements, The Commons demonstrate their trademark melodic qualities throughout, as well as, their broad musical range. Evidenced by their sustained live following, The Commons continue to prove that quality music will always overshadow image.
