The third album of the ever changing Norwegian sound collective Get On under the direction of Eugene Guribye is a Tivoli collage of eclectic songs woven together like a surrealist electro-organic gipsy tapestry containing jazz, electronica, gipsy music, modernism, musique concrete, punkrock and a hint of psychedelic folktronic. The result is a caravan of sound fragments and melodies passing through a sound landscape of distorted flamenco guitars, car-alarms, diminutive harmonies, tap dancers and bicycle parts; male choirs interbreeding with punk guitars, queer brass harmonies and intricate samples; superimposed layers of sound dominated by tricky percussion, mystical flutes and analogue synthesizer tweaks; the jazz of returning upright basses; the world fusion of Jew’s harps and gamelan bells; ambient passages through harmoniums and the recurring sound of organic wood; krautrock grooves, sound collages, fragments of jazz; excursions into dodekaphony; sudden flashes of punk followed by dream-like sequences of reversed Indian fiddles and the distorted guitars of Corvine; tape loops of street-musician melodies on ragged accordions; bird-imitating synthesizers and signal generators combined with ghost-like theremins and grandfather clocks; the proud display of 6-bit samplers and home-made instruments; and in the middle of all this appears an intricate collage arrangement of Edward Grieg and Henrik Ibsen’s “A Swan”, complete with heartbeats, ticking watches, bass clarinets, lo-fi Casiotones and the ever soft voice of Karin Park.
