Blood Rooted formed in the summer of 2006. It was the brainchild of guitarist Danny Blacker and drummer Kevin Young. The two friends who jammed in high school decided to give the old band another try. At the time, Danny was finishing up a six-year tour in the United States Navy, and Kevin was finishing up a music degree, so the duo sent sequenced Guitar Pro files back and forth for a year until they were free to setup shop in Houston, Texas to complete the band.
The Houston Metal scene had gone through many changes in the years that the pair had been away, and finding their bearings was rough going in the beginning. Practice pads and headphones were used a little more often than preferred. However, a practice space along with a bass player was secured shortly there after. Gilbert Boyer was a friend and former band mate who fell right in as the group’s bass player.
Several long and frustrating runs to find a singer and second guitarist turned up fruitless, so the band gave a chance to another friend and former band mate, Paul Morrow. Paul’s vocal potential allowed Blood Rooted to hit the stage running and never look back.
Though only performing as a four piece, the group continues to power along through Texas and beyond with a unique blend of heavy metal. The members all share the same core influences like Old Metallica, Slayer, Machine Head, Pantera, Old Sepultura, etc, but each member brings something different to the table drawing on many styles and sub-genres such as Sevendust, Primus, Mark Rizzo, and Cradle of Filth as well as non-metal such as grunge, country, classical, and more.
