Over the course of my life up until now, I’ve seen the Lord work in various ways and through countless circumstances to slowly reveal His plan for me. Sometimes He moves mountains in front of me and other times He whispers softly amongst the crowd, but constantly – deliberately – whether I choose to listen or not, He speaks. And as I continue to press on, striving to hold up my end of the deal, one thing remains constant…a deep conviction for my will to be steadily shaped into something that looks more like His will. And that is exactly what this collection of songs represents. Matthew 28:18-19 says, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit….” The words of Jesus are clear. Go and make disciples - in other words, go and spread the Good News - in other words, get off your butt and use your gifts, talents, and resources to reach people all over the world for the Kingdom! This music is my humble attempt at doing just that.
I never really considered myself a songwriter. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and when I finally picked up a guitar, it felt very natural to me. But writing songs that were any good? Different story. It always seemed to be a struggle to finish anything – and that’s just the ones that never left my notepad! But over the last couple of years, God has again begun to reveal Himself to me throughout the pages of Scripture in new and exciting ways. He has allowed me to start seeing His Word in a different light – a more lyrical approach to His Truth. The words and melodies just started coming – almost as if planted there by someone else. That’s when my uphill battle to write “hit songs” came to a screeching halt. I stopped trying to write stuff I thought would be cool and just went with what the Spirit was saying – and here we are. These songs are His songs. Mine is just the hand He used to write them.
I hope my music prompts you to focus your attention on the One who created you – to stand in awe of His great love for you – and to respond in worship to the mighty King who pursues you and delivers you from the depths. My prayer is that the Lord will powerfully use it to deepen your trust and strengthen your commitment to Him. Or, maybe you’ll be moved to call upon the saving name of Jesus Christ for the first time.
