Details:
The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs is a rip-snortin’ rootin’-tootin’ old timey jug band.
The American roots music that gratified the Grateful Dead and the delirium that delights Dr. Demento have driven the Pigs since 1967.
If you love to wallow in misery and self-pity and your taste in music runs to the bleak and bitter, the Pigs will make a mockery of everything you hold dear.
Forty-plus years ago when the Cincinnati Dancing Pigs broke off from the Mill Creek Revolutionary Marching Jug Band we had no idea that we would have our own website and a CD for sale on CDBaby. We pretty much have the same ideas today that we had then – wine, women & song, not necessarily in that order.
Our card reads “Musical entertainment for parties, shows, mitzvahs, bacchanals, orgies, and wakes,” but we are essentially a bar band. Why? Please direct your attention to the last sentence of the previous paragraph.
The original motivation for the CD was to attract lucrative performance opportunities in exotic foreign locales. Amazingly, we have a few left over. Granted, its packaged perfection can’t measure up to the inexpressible joy of appreciating us ensemble and in flagrante dilecto. For that you will probably have to travel to Cincinnati, once the pork producing capitol of the world and home of the Wiener the World Awaited.
The Cincinnati Enquirer once compared us to the Julliard String Quartet, although not favorably. We have played at every Tall Stacks, at the Cincinnati Bicentennial Celebration, for the runners in the Flying Pig Marathon, many times in the summer concert series in the amphitheater in Eden Park, for the Art Museum, for a sit-down dinner on the observation deck of the Carew Tower (with Mayor Jerry Springer), and in many bars, back yards and living rooms throughout the area.
If you enjoy listening to our music half as much as we enjoy performing it, there may be hope for you yet.

“Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your tame and it annoys the pig.”
~ Robert A. Heinlein (1907-1998)
