Details:
Sassoon Yosef grew up near the Sea of Galilee, Israel, in the kibbutz of Kinneret. This kibbutz, was home to many intellectuals and gave him his inspiration in the two art mediums he creates in, sculpture and music.
Sassoon completed his studies in the famous Avney Institute of Arts in Tel Aviv, going on to the art colonies of Ein Hod and Sefad. In Ein Hod, Sassoon studied under renowned Romanian sculptor Tuvia Uster, whose background was in Italian stonework. His mentor inspired him to travel to Pietrasanta, Italy, in 1985 to master his command of marble. In 1989, Sassoon moved to New York, breaking out into the American art scene with works that gracefully combine movement with sensuality while projecting powerful energy.
Sassoon’s sculptures have been praised in countless arts publications, and have been exhibited in various solo and group shows throughout the world, most notably in New York, London, Los Angeles, and Israel. Today Sassoon shares his time between his studios in Israel and in the US.
Recently, Sassoon has ventured into the world of classical music. As in his sculpting, you can hear the grace and the passion that is so characteristic of this artist. By substituting the tangible for sound, he succeeds in creating pictures in his music.
