Details:
I started writing because I needed an outlet. My childhood was a struggle, so I needed to be able to express myself and my feelings. Of course, as a child, I had good memories, but those memories were few and far between. I write today because I feel the need to express myself, my experiences, my journey and my thoughts on issues that people do and do not want to hear. I always told myself, as a poet, that if I could bring out the good or bad feelings and emotions in just one individual, then my mission is accomplished. Life is a constant battle; life is extremely tough but you can''t let it get you down. I try to bring reality to people with my words because, most of the time, people run from it.
There are poems you will agree with and some you won''t. By all means, it is not my intention to offend you; I just say what''s on my heart. I would like to give thanks to my Lord and Savior for blessing me with the gift of poetry. He is the only one who has made this road possible for me. He has opened this door of opportunity to touch individual''s lives and for that, I will forever be thankful. I will forever keep my faith in Him. Born and raised in Fresno, California, Robin is the fourth of seven children. He is now a proud father and uses his children as his motivation. "My children are everything to me. To be able to love, nurture, and provide for them as a man and a father is the greatest feeling in the world! They are truly my motivation for life!" says Robin.
Being greatly influenced by the late Tupac Shakur, Robin learned that he wasn''t alone in his struggles as a young teen. He recognized Tupac as an artist, activist, and poet that shared songs of inspiration, frustration, love, anger, and pain. His first attempt at writing was in the form of a rap at the age of thirteen. He wasn''t into it, so he stopped. At sixteen, he began writing personal thoughts. His first poem, "Angel," was written at the age of eighteen and he has been captivating us with his words ever since.
