Details:
Signs features songs composed and sung by both Ben and Nancy Parent. The album opens with “The Point”, a driving pop anthem, and from there, explores a diverse Americana, roots and folk rock landscape, with alternating lead vocals by both Parents. The title track features a few star touches – Famed B-3 player Mike Finnigan (Jimi Hendrix, CSN, Etta James) and singer Vivian Sessoms (Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder, Pink) add some gospel flourishes to the country romp. “Viewfinder” and “Runaway Mind” showcase Nancy Parent’s dynamic vocal range and melodic instincts. “Roadrunner Blues” takes a side road to the swamp, with some dirty, dueling slide guitar and harmonica interplay. The album closes with a plaintive rumination on fortune and mortality, the ballad “Shallow End.”
“The Rivergods know how to pull people in, keep their attention and make them listen to and enjoy things they wouldn’t expect... Signs is a collection of great songs that you would have to try very hard to wear out.” —https://www.tradebit.com
The Rivergods have several CDs out; their last full-length studio album, Time Has Come, was hailed as “simply excellent” by Boston’s Soundcheck Magazine and produced an award-winning single, “Buddha on the Road,” which won the Independent Artist Community’s Best Americana song award in 2007. In May of 2010, the Rivergods were nominated in New London, CT’s inaugural Whalie Awards for ‘Best Americana Band.’
