Coming hard on the heels of her latest charting success is the newest CD from Sharron Kay King, The Road I Know. This 10-cut CD features excellence in song writing, wonderful instrumental talent and background vocals second to none – all to frame a solid vocal performance by Sharron Kay from beginning to end.
Among the stand-out performances from Sharron Kay are “Coat of Many Colors,” a song written and sung more than 30 years ago by Dolly Parton, and the project’s first single, “You Never Gave Up on Me,” written by Daryl Mosley (writer of 2006 Song of the Year “He Saw It All”).
“The Least One in the Kingdom,” written by Tammy Dunaway, puts Sharron Kay in a low-note range that beautifully showcases the mellow tones of her voice. A self-penned song, ‘There’s Still Hope in the Cross,” features one of the most versatile vocalists in southern gospel music, Paul Lancaster (Nelons, Martins) on one of the verses as well as the inimitable Mike Allen and Jimmy Fortune on BGVs. Preacher/singer Marty Raybon, formerly of country group Shenandoah (now fronting his own bluegrass group, Full Circle) turns in a sterling performance as a guest vocalist on two cuts, “When I Say Christian” (Mosley) and “I’ll Take the Road I Know” (Arlee Petree).
Another highlight of the album is a rollicking rendition of “Oh I Want To See Him.” The vocals are great and the musicians, ably led by Jason Webb, —well, you just have to hear it! Go! Buy and enjoy!
