"Swing First, Think Later" is bassist/composer Tim Aucoin's first CD as a leader. After 25 years as a sideman to such diverse musical luminaries as Nnenna Freelon, Allen Toussaint, the Mamas and the Papas, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Luther Kent and Trickbag, and Pete Fountain (among others.) "Swing First, Think Later" gives Aucoin a palette from which to explore some of his favorite musical influences (and grooves.) It includes eleven original compositions that range from hard-swinging bop to melt-in-your-chair ballads. Featured are the extraordinary talents of pianist-Bill Anschell, saxophonist-Brian Lopes, drummer-Justin Varnes, trumpeter-Gordon Vernick, and percussionist-Jerry Fields.
