Twenty-one year old songwriter John MacPhee began his journey when he went to Cambodia to aid and support the poor. During his stay, he began to write songs to ease the longs days and the emotional ups and downs of the task. In 2004, he returned to his home on Prince Edward Island and The Chucky Danger Band was formed with John on acoustic guitar and lead vocal, brother Rob MacPhee on bass, Colin Buchanan on lead guitar, and David Cyrus MacDonald on drums and percussion. Their 2004 release of "Sweet Symphony" sent their music to radio stations across the country and soon after they were asked to record for CBCs Atlantic Airwaves. During one the bands live performances, gold/platinum producer Paul Milner (Robert Palmer, Kim Mitchell, I Mother Earth, Glass Tiger, Northern Pikes) heard the band and immediately came on board with Glen Meisner and Carl Falkenham to produce the CBC sessions. What emerged was their first full length CD "Colour". Efforts were rewarded with a win at the 2005 PEI Music Awards for Entertainer of the Year and a win at 2006 East Coast Music Awards for "Pop Recording of the Year".
Noted for their high-energy pop-funk performances, the Chucky Danger Bands ability to engage and connect with its audiences is firmly rooted in their carefully crafted blend of original music and their intensely visual live show. Their divers array of original music stretches to and from humorous forays into unknown languages, epic rock songs, and perfect pop songs, many of which include unexpected musical twists.
