Up 2 Par
"Here We Go"
When you think of a group that personifies strong harmony, catchy hooks, and grooves that won''t quit, many thoughts may come to your mind, but after just one listen
to their latest CD entitled "Here We Go" you will no doubt come to the conclusion that along with all the potent R&B groups of yesterday and today, Up 2 Par fits into the above criteria.
The group consists of the brothers, Howard "Minquel" Ingram and Daniel "Woody Wood" Ingram along with their longtime friend, musical partner, and producer Irving "Baby Boy" Johnson. Each member of Up 2 Par brings a different persona to the group which is one of the many reasons why it''s so unique. All three members are lead vocalists but with their own style. Minquel brings the raw emotion; Woody Wood brings the spontaneous edge, while Baby Boy brings the laid back soul vibes. Put it all together and you have Up 2 Par.
To describe the sound of the group as a collective, the best way to define it would be to say that it''s a mixture of old school soul with up to date hip hop grooves that would fall somewhere between Debarge and The Neptunes. The group definitely has the potential to appeal to all age groups. They endeavor to record music that is urban and current but will also be able to stand the test of time and be played five to ten years from
now without losing it''s flavor. In other words to create modern day classics. "We don''t try to fit the mold of everything that''s out there, we try to do what inspires us," explains Baby Boy.
The group has been writing and recording together since they were in their early teens. With this new CD, they step up their game by adding national recording artist and musical producer Rufus Blaq to the project to produce two tracks. Rufus has worked on projects for artists such as Marques Houston, Omarion, Faith Evans, and Angie Stone. "I feel like this album represents us as artists as well as individuals" says Minquel. "It''s something that we''ve been wanting to create for a very long time and we are just beginning to tap the surface of our creativity." And if this is an indicator of things to
come then we all will look forward to what this talented group has in store in the near future. In the meantime, buckle your seatbelts for your musical trip with Up 2 Par, if you''re ready..."HERE WE GO!"
