Slamtones, a rock band from Michigan''s Northern Peninsula was formed in 2000. The Rush hour album is the work and life''s blood of four musicians. First and foremost is Paul Rintala. Paul Rintala is the poet of the group and has written nearly every word on the album. This album is just a small part of Paul lyrical work. If you would like to
hear clever and intelligent lyrics then you have to listen to Rush hour. Paul is also a master of the Gibson Les Paul. His playful guitar style can be heard on every song on the album. Paul''s voice can also be heard yelling out "Yeah!" on Whiskey & Gin as well as his fiery lead singing on Door Mat.
If you were wondering, "Who is playing that smoking guitar solo?" That would be Paul Racine. Also so known as Can Boy, his expertise on the fender Stratocaster is match by none. To describe his style I would have to say, it is like Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Jimmy Hendrix and beats
the Shit out of Keith Richards. This man can jam! You would never know that he is the youngest member of the group. His licks are filled with ten life times of meaning, passion and force. Paul Racine vocal contribution can also be heard. His great ear and smooth vocal delivery
are present on many of the Rush Hour tracks.
Larry "Superman" Clemo on drums! Larry Clemo is the driving force behind the beat, the music and the band. His drumming is a wild mix of pop, punk and hard driving rock. He is a bad ass drummer and is not afraid to bring every thing he''s got to Rush Hour. Though mild mannered and quite by day, when unleashed in the hours of darkness he becomes a crazed feral beast-man that cannot be controlled. His wild spirit is evident on Instigator, oblivion and I''m a rocker. He can breathe life into any song as can be heard on Rush Hour. He can rock hard and play with taste and skill. Even when he turns down the volume, he never tones down his artistic power. Larry''s voice can also be heard on Dangerous Eyes, as he lays down a sound that''s brown on the chorus.
Last but not least is Frank Childress on vocals and bass. Bass with conviction and passion is what you will hear on Rush Hour. Frankly he don''t give a dam. Frank plays every note as if it were his last. He is the groove man and loves to lay low and play slow. His taste is evident on the R&B sound of Dangerous Eyes, his only lyrical contribution on the album. Frank is the lead voice behind all the songs on the album with the exception of Paul Rintala''s Door Mat. Frank''s southern and blues
roots can be heard on every song on the album. His gritty vocal style can be describe as Lynard Skynard meets Bob Segar and beat the shit out of Mic Jaggar. A strong voice and a strong eater, Frank sucks the marrow out of every song and comes back for a second helping.
The members of Slamtones have played in many bands under many names over the years but have always maintained a sturdy musical connection. Each and every song is the total of all four member''s efforts. These are real songs and come from the real boyish spirit of each member. All
four members brought something to the table on Rush Hour and you canhear it in every punch, lick and lyric.
