Zoey Wren
Music- Bridge to the Self

Zoey Wren''s debut CD Light on the Water draws together her classical training with an intimate and original touch. Her piano-playing evokes sounds of nature, taking the listener on a journey into a world of stillness and beauty.

Growing up in rural BC in the ''70s, Zoey was strongly influenced by folk artists like Joni Mitchell and Bruce Cockburn. Her creative piano-playing flowed out between scales and studies for conservatory exams. Introduced to Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan at a young age, Zoey imbibed a meditative, improv style. Sunrises, mountain views, rivers, chopping wood, shoveling snow, and walking in the forest make up her musical rhythms and silences.

After completing a Bachelor of Music from McGill in 1994, Zoey went on to become an elementary teacher. Putting aside her music career she taught for one year, after which she encountered a major health challenge. Zoey then devoted herself to a natural recovery through energy medicine and yoga. Light on the Water is the fruit of Zoey''s powerful journey back to health and back to music.

Since releasing the CD in early 2004, Zoey has visited hospitals, schools, and day programs, gracing many ears with her soothing tones on piano and vocals. Zoey performs regularly at new thought churches, coffeehouses, and community events.

In an inspiring CD launch, Zoey''s audience of 150 gave her a standing ovation. Comments included: "Your music brought tears to my eyes," "Duality dissolved between the music and the listener," "I play your CD in all my yoga classes," "I use your CD for massage and the response is terrific!"

"Zoey''s CD Light on the Water invites us to get in touch with the deep, still aspect of ourselves where we find true nourishment."
-R. Dobrescu, MD

Zoey is currently busy writing more music, teaching yoga, and giving workshops in sound healing at the West Coast Mystic Arts Institute in North Vancouver, BC.
