"Biloxi Flood" is a tribute to the people of the Gulf Coast who were the victims of Katrina, as well as everyone else on this planet that has been a sufferer of any natural and man-made disaster. This is not to say this album is not without its positive aspects. The song "Grass is Yellow" is quite silly and hails back to the gloriously psychedelic 60''s when most things didn''t make sense, which can be said today in our turbulent world, and where humor diffuses the stress of everyday living.
Michael introduces some mellow experimental atmospheric elements into the tracks "Solstice Pie," which has Eastern and Native American influences, whilst "Crystal Nocturne" is rather ambient, futuristic, and meditative in a rather European sensibility harking back to the early days of electronica. "Anapurna Walk" completes the Eastern part of the puzzle with influences from the Asian sub-continent, with heady bongo action by his bro'' Dave.
With robust crazy guitar leads reminiscent of classic Metal gods such as Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, The Cult, and some added chaos thrown in for good measure, the songs "Noble Chaos," "Desert Jam," "Biloxi Flood," and "Gotham Trash" fill those bills.
"Wide Berth" is another experimental compilation of diverse influences of blues, rock, jazz, and funk that is compiled into an abstract jam session. Brother Dave contributes to the mix with his explosive eclectic drumming.
Michael gives varied vocal performances in the psychedelic and folksy "Grass Is Yellow" and the deranged southern heavy rock track "Highway 5."
