Bottomside started out as a guy with an abandoned guitar and a notebook charting into the early morning hours and attempting to fashion music into something that attempts to understand loneliness, the encroaching force of technology, the various notions of space - both interstellar and internal, and the companionship of a good book and its attendant ballast which allows one to keep floating on through the morning.
After many years of song-writing, a fellow musician wandered into this lone journeyman''s station-stop town of Bottomside, where the streets are barren, there isn''t much electricity, and very few women reside. He discovered there this incredible songwriter and his exceptional cycle of music, and soon after decided to become a resident of Bottomside.
In this town, where they continue to weave their small spell of music, they have slowly been greeted by other drifters who hide behind wind-scarred walls and will occasionally emerge from the abandoned saloon or the shanties of a parched riverbed to join them around a small crackling fire where the late starry evenings and moon-stunned dawns are bridged by a few simple songs.
The residents of Bottomside are writer/musician Adam Rapp and composer Eric Shim. Guest artists have included violinist Christian Hebel, violist Simon Ertz, and cellist Peter Sachon.
