Music lives within Chris Nole, and Chris Nole lives in the music. From his solo projects to touring with some of the biggest names in the recording industry, Nole’s passion for making music has taken his talents to an array of audiences. His music ranges from jazzing up the blues and barrel-house boogie to insightful ballads, and from solo piano and soaring orchestrations to rambling acoustical jams.
Chris’ love for music began at a very young age, and at nine years old he got his first piano. The music came naturally to him, and he could not keep away from the instrument that would become a part of his identity. “Like most young musicians, I dreamt of a career in music and all the excitement it might bring.”
In 1987 Chris made the move to Nashville to make his career and his mark in music and composing. Some of the great artists Nole has worked with are country music superstars Faith Hill, Travis Tritt, and Shelby Lynne. He has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, and the Today show while touring the nation with these popular artists. “I’ve been lucky enough to tour and record with some of the best performers in the music business.”
While continuing to work as a session and touring musician in Nashville, unexpectedly Chris’ life changed in 1994 when he got the offer to tour Asia with the legendary singer/songwriter John Denver. This led to a career-altering experience, including several world tours, television specials, and recordings with John Denver on platinum and Grammy-winning CDs, up until Denver’s untimely death in 1997. “I learned a lot from being on stage with John—the power of one soft, graceful note, the drama of one well-placed pause. John was a master of his craft. He could write and deliver a song like no one else.”
In more recent years, Chris has been specializing in expanding his own talents, as well as those of his musical collaborators. In the studio, Nole distributes his gift from behind the piano to behind the controls as music producer. Notably, in early 2007, he completed a major production project for vocalist/songwriter Brittany Allyn, also performing on her debut CD, Like a Butterfly, and co-writing many of the songs that appear on the album. He has also been performing on and producing records for singer/songwriter Mack Bailey of the legendary folk trio The Fabulous Limeliters.
Chris additionally has several records to his own credits. Some noteworthy instrumental CDs include Songs of the High Country (2002), Songs of the Wide Horizon (2003), and Fly Away: Piano Perspectives- The Music of John Denver (2004). In 2006 Chris released his first all-vocal CD, Little Rum Boogie, which includes a self-penned collection of his unique blend of blues, jazz, soul, and ballads.
To experience Chris Nole—the composer, songwriter, recording artist, and producer—is like a journey and discovery into his world of musical brilliance, creativity, and passion for the art. ”Every time I sit at the piano it seems I learn something new – that’s what keeps me coming back for more. It never ceases to amaze me the energy and fulfillment I receive from the creative process. Music fuels the fire inside of me.”
