17 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, BLUES: Rockin'' Blues
Details:
Combining classic roots of inspiration such as Johnny Cash, Howlin’ Wolf and Robert Johnson with the punk sneer of pioneers like Social Distortion and the Cramps, the Punk Blues Review are at once both timeless and fierce. Fronted by dynamic vocalist Michelle Duff (who has already garnered numerous comparisons to such talented frontwomen as Exene Cerveneka of X and Brody Dale of the Distillers) and rounded out by guitar whiz Blake Metzler and rhythm section Ellis Keaton (bass) and Derek Berkowitz (percussion), the band’s professionalism and true punk rock ideals led to the recent signing.
We are very excited to welcome PBR to the Altercation family,” said the label. “We have always had a sincere appreciation for roots music, and this is a band that approaches the material with both respect and inspired energy. Anyone familiar with Altercation knows that we are dead serious about the music we release, and PBR definitely has the talent to live up to the name.”
The band is slated to enter a Woodstock, New York studio in late October to record their debut album “Thieving From The Best”, which will be released in early spring of 2007. Producer extraordinaire Mike Tuttle will man the boards for the session. The Punk Blues Review will also embark on the March 2007 leg of the national Altercation Tour, which will include a high profile stop at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas on Friday March 16th.
