Brick is a three-piece straight up bad-ass rock band and still while retaining this image, the band also strikes many listeners as easy to relate and listen to. Their music is known as both popular and edgy.
Brick''s sound displays a defiant youthful angst, laced with classic rock, and smoked in a bowl made of modern punk rock; and they hold it proudly to their lips.
Their emphasis on melody and dangerous verses has given them a diehard fan base in Philadelphia, on Long Island and in the surrounding New England area.
Holding anger as his weapon, and passion as his shield, lead-singer, Joe Giampa ("jo jompa") makes a point to touch an array of subjects in his lyrics. From the righteous moral-telling lyrics of Hopeless Genetics to the angry, unforgiving words of Your Eyes, the dimension Brick bears is literally endless.
"It''s really important to talk about everything," says Joe.
"Who can''t relate to the feeling of someone completely dumping on you? In a situation like that, all you want is revenge; or wanting to experiment with alcohol or drugs so badly it just completely consumes you. Sometimes you just want to let evil own you; even if it''s as little as drawing on your passed out friend, or as bad as physically hurting someone. Whoever says they don''t feel and give in to that temptation is a lying sack of s**t. You don’t have a choice. It''s a fact of life."
Best friends since they can remember, bassist Jordan Pine and drummer Brian Retus grew up in Long Island, NY; the birthplace of modern rock and the origin of this uprising known as BRICK. It seems fate brought this trio together.
Brick''s Sample E.P., Soundview Drive (named after the street it was recorded on in Orient Point, Long Island) gave Brick the jumpstart it needed to compete in the music industry. The release of Soundview Drive in the last quarter of ''06 caused quite a stir on the upper East Coast, finding its way onto several college radio shows. The air-play had fans calling for more, so, successively; Brick will be embarking on their first tour in the summer of ''07.
Now working on their new single, "Rome" and b-side, "Chameleon", Brick plans to be a major part of the music industry in the very near future.
