My name is Matt Zimmerman. I have been writing and recording music for a long time. This is my most recent project, an effort to strip down my music to it’s bare elements. I wrote most of this stuff on piano, and a little on guitar. The central theme here is of an introspective nature, with some other variations on some good ol’ songwriting standbyes/ cliches such as love, loss, relationships, and friendships gone but not forgotten. These songs were composed and recorded during a period of time in my life when I chose to make some fundamental changes, deal with addiction problems, and most importantly, to become honest with myself. Serious stuff? Yes, but I think the music reflects an essence of the sense of hope, lightness, transition, and positive change I began to experience at the time. The title refers to an inexplicable sense of hope that kept me moving forward on my path, many times to my surprise, and helped me push past a difficult part of my life. The “flood,” my seemingly endless torrent of fears and problems mounting around me. The “trust,” a self perpetuating, underlying feeling that I just might push through. Hence, The Flood Trust. Hope you enjoy. Remember to breathe! –MZ
