Tenor saxophonist Scott Gordley has played throughout the East coast for the past 20 years. He’s appeared on numerous recordings with jazz and blues greats such as Little Anthony, Johnny MacLeod, and the Gamma Rays. Gordley has played at the House of Blues with artists Susan Tedeschi, Ronnie Earl, Michelle Wilson, Rick Russell and blues legend Weepin’ Willie, and has played venues with many others including blues great Johnny “Clyde” Copeland and Shameika Copeland. Gordley is currently a professor at Montclair State University in New Jersey.
The Scott Gordley Trio pays homage to the classic Blue Note jazz recordings of the 50’s and 60’s, featuring musical innovators like Jimmy Smith, Stanley Turrentine (with organist Shirley Scott) and Lou Donaldson (with Dr. Lonnie Smith on the Hammond B3). Many of these musicians alternated between free-form jazz, funk and soulful blues to produce what has become known as the classic organ-trio sound.
