Bill Yackey is the guitarist and singer for the Bill and Aaron Band, based in Lexington, KY.
The Bill and Aaron Band is probably most famous for their upbeat, all-night sets at Kentucky college bars, but Bill and Aaron actually started out singing classical music.
With both members coming from extensive choral backgrounds, the band got its start in 2002 when longtime friends Bill Yackey and Aaron Weaver decided to work on a pop/rock recoding project before they left for college.
While at the University of Kentucky, Bill and Aaron began playing at Common Grounds Coffee House, a local staple in original live music. The summers of 2003 and 2004 featured Bill and Aaron playing bigger stages in Lexington and Louisville. By 2005 Bill and Aaron were an established act in the college bar scene, pulling large crowds of loyal fans to each show.
The Bill and Aaron Band has been praised for playing setlists geared toward their audience, playing everything from “Don’t Stop Believing” to Kanye West’s “Golddigger” on request. The band has played in concert halls, bars, outdoor parties, church events, fraternity parties and charity events and have opened for national acts. With the release of 86 in March 2007, the guys are ready to keep the momentum going.
