Charmaine first came to our attention as a member of the reggae girl group Worl-A-Girl. Since then, Charmaine has revamped her style and image to reflect her multifaceted musical influences. In her fiery debut entitled, Say You Love Me Charmaine reaches yet another musical plateau. As her first solo project since Worl-A-Girl, Charmaine has laced this gutsy album with a mélange of rock, reggae, and R&B inspirations. Charmaine was an integral part of Worl-A-Girl''s early success story having substantially penned most of the group''s early hits. "I Can''t Wait," "You That I Want," and "Jamaica Bobsled Chant", which was part of the Disney movie soundtrack for “Cool Runnings”, are all songs for which Charmaine''s keen songwriting abilities were mostly responsible.
With Worl-A-Girl, Charmaine traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and United States as well as Japan, on various tours including Reggae Sunsplash and Japan Splash. The group has appeared on Late Night With David Letterman, The Arsenio Hall Show, BET''s Teen Summit, MTV and Channel 13''s What''s the 411?, as well as numerous regional cable video shows. Charmaine has also been a prominent guest host on WLIB radio with Bob Fredricks. The talented songstress holds a Bachelor''s degree in English Literature, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society, Golden Key International Honor Society and recently obtained an Executive MBA in Media Management. When asked how she finds time and energy to do it all Charmaine''s response is "I just do it. I make the time for what is important to me."
Now, at another juncture on her life’s journey, Charmaine has heeded the call of the Lord and has changed direction once again, both in life and in music. Her call from God sees her using her talents to comfort and encourage Gods people as she embarks on a ministry of song in the interest of Gods kingdom. For the past two years, Charmaine has been a member, in good standing, of the Central Baptist Church choir, the Bobby Lewis Ensemble and, more recently, Gospera, a gospel/opera ensemble. As an active member of each of these groups, Charmaine has been performing many dates in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and as far away as Spain where the choir toured for 2 weeks in June of 2006. In May of 2006 Charmaine performed her first Christian solo concert where she performed songs from her soon to be released Christian CD, provisionally entitled Pray. The concert was a smashing success and the CD is wildly anticipated and promises to be quite a spiritual feast. We look forward to the growth of her ministry and Gods continued favor in Charmaine’s life and work.
