LOST SOULS
The Doomsayrz

Lost Souls is a concept album. It is a depiction of a plethora of ways that a soul can be lost, and finally, in the last song, the one true way to redemption. Lost souls of various kinds are evident on every track culminating in the final song when the audience realizes that when we put things before GOD, we are all lost.

Righteous Blues

âLost Soulsâ begins with âRighteous Bluesâ, a slow gospel/blues song in the classic rock vein, maybe the Band meets the Eagles meets Pink Floyd. In this song, our hero believes that he is righteous, that he is a good person, on a good path and that because he has made it this far, he has the right to preach his way to the lost, never realizing that his lust, his covetousness will be his downfall. He does make some valid points, most notably, that you have to quiet the voices in your head to hear the DIVINE, so try not to judge.

Righteous Blues

When your mindâs all tore up and your soulâs stretched thin
Youâve got two holes in both shoes
And the cross is so heavy with the weight of your sins
You wish they would just crucify you

If you silence your demons, youâll hear HEAVENLY hymns
Singing you just what to do
If you chose to listen thatâs when you begin
To start singing your righteous blues

When your sorely tested and you donât give in
And nobody knows it but you
And that big old bully hits you square on the chin
Do you turn one cheek or two?

And when you get to HEAVEN and thereâs no virgins
Tell me what would Mohamed do?
Just listen to Jesus, cause heâs sitting in
While weâre playing your righteous blues

When your mindâs all tore up and your soulâs stretched thin
Youâve got two holes in both shoes
And the cross is so heavy with the weight of your sins
You wish they would just crucify you

When you silence your demons, youâll hear HEAVENLY hymns
Singing you just what to do
I chose to do what my MAKER says to
So Iâm singing her/his righteous blues

Sheâs There

In the second song, âSheâs thereâ, our hero has an admirer. She is there for him, even though he is in love with another. She loves him back and they are âfriendsâ, but she loves cocaine more, so she saves her sex for rich boy that keeps her supplied, thinking all the while that she really cares for him. So this song contains four lost souls. Musically, I have been told that this song sounds like Ozzy or Geoff Tate singing a Prince song.

Sheâs There

With you Iâm always chasing rainbows
You are always on my mind
You never look over your shoulder
Cause you know Iâm close behind

Late at night when you close your bedroom door
Iâm always on the other side
I crawl home cause Iâm wanting more
I call the one who doesnât hide

And sheâs there
Cause she cares
Even if she has to share
I swear
Itâs not fair
But as long as you donât care

She wakes me up at night
To see if Iâm all right
And she doesnât even ask
About you

I know your boy with that preppy name
I guess dadâs a millionaire
He writes lies in snow white cocaine
I write songs to show I care

And late at night when you close his bedroom door
And your rolling with the tide
Iâm at home laying on the floor
She comes and takes me for a ride

And sheâs there
Cause she cares
Even if she has to share
I swear
Itâs not fair
But as long as you donât care
She rocks me through the night
But it doesnât seem quite right
That she never even asks
About you

Iâm there
Cause I care
Even if I have to share
I swear itâs not fair
But why is she always there

Sheâs there
Cause she cares
Even if she has to share
I swear itâs not fair
But until you decide you care
She keeps me up all night
Tomorrowâ¦

Mistress of Illusion

Ah, âMistress of Illusionâ, in this, our third song, our hero tries to understand our cocaine heroine in a final effort to free her from her addiction and win her heart. He observes that all women can be mistresses of illusion in so much as they can misuse their feminine powers to get what they want, because they know what men want, but if you get something for nothing, then nothing is what it is worth. All men and women that engage in this covetous and adulterous activity are lost.

Mistress of Illusion

Your mirror is your masterpiece
When all the worldâs your stage
A cradle for your sanity
A weapon against old age

With every stroke you change the lines
And fill up on the crack
Now check once more the mirror
Whoâs that stranger looking back?

Mistress of illusion
Youâre an artist, queen of style
You use men for your amusement
And the presents that they pile
At your feet
Like a queen

I believe
I believe

You walk into a party
And you know the eyes are on you
Itâs not for what youâve accomplished
Or even for what you might do
You transform yourself with makeup
Using lipstick, crèmes and rouge
Your walk is designed to shake up
All the fools that believe the ruse

I believe
I believe
I believe
I believe

Mistress of confusion
Are you believing your own lies
When spent all your delusions
Then illusion is all you buy

I believe
I believe
I believe
In you and me

Illusion has a mistress
But her secrets Iâll never tell
How you sell men dreams of HEAVEN
But the profits are spent in hell

I believe
I believe

Iâve the conclusion
Itâs time to get on with my life
Abandon all your children
But you cant play Father Time

I believe
I believe
That you and me
Are fantasy
I believe
I believe

Judge Not
âJudge Notâ, our fourth song, lest ye be judged! It is about a sitting judge, so thatâs all I am going to say about that! It is a very basic song that I would like us to be able to perform in an infinite diversity of styles and genres.

Judge Not

All rise
This court is now in session
And presiding
Is the honorable judge
Not

Judge not
Grudge not
Budge not

Donât look down on me brother
Donât look down on me brother
Donât look down on me brother

Need not
Want not
Have not

Donât look down on me brother
Donât look down on me brother
Donât look down on me brother

When you cry I want to know why
And when I die theyâll know that you lied

You hurt me when you judge me
But you donât know whatâs fair
Itâs our children that are paying
When your saying
You donât care

Down with the Sun

In âDown with the Sunâ, our hero is incarcerated and hallucinates that he is playing a show and sees his lost heroine. She has come back and all is well, but the blinding light of the morning sun awakens him to the fact that she is lost to him and he is lost to himself.

Down with the Sun

As I walk alone down crazy streets
The people laugh as I trip over my feet
They donât know the story behind my defeat
They never held you close or kissed you so sweet

Now the sun gets me down every morning
Yes the sun brings me down each day
The sun hurts my eyes to see
How Iâve sunken so low today

While Iâm playing here I face the crowd
Theyâre drinking much too much and
Thinking too loud
Then a face I see
Could it be you
Your coming back to me
My dreamâs coming true

Now the sun is bright every morning
Yes the sun gets me high each day
Itâs so bright and gold and blinding in the morning
Now your back with me
To stay

But Iâm wrong itâs just these old drunken dtâs
It wasnât you, but I guess Iâm still me
The rain is falling down
Dripping in my cell
It is my happy home
And I know it oh so well

The sun gets me down every morning
The sun gets me down each day
The sun hurts my eyes to see
How Iâve sunken so low
Today

Answers(Father and Son)

In the sixth song our hero and his son learn to play together and that they are not so different and they are both children of GOD and that is the answer.

Judge Not (Reprise)

Our hero winds up back in court and the judge hasnât changed one bit.

Revelationship Issues

During the eighth song, our hero is having âRevelationship Issuesâ, so he turns to hip-hop. He finds his spirituality by losing his religion. Listen to the word, but think for yourself! Another lost soul joins him here or is it merely the voice of his feminine side voicing the same questions.

Revelationship Issues

Every night when I kneel to pray
I struggle with what words to say

Do I pray to GOD as taught in my youth
Or meditate on a different truth

One GOD does that ring a bell
Live by the word or go to hell
When I die will I burn and wail
Or sit back and laugh at this fairytale

Reincarnate will I heed the call
Become one small atom of the cosmic all
Like spiritual cream will I rise to the top
Or when I die will I just
Stop

Iâm not a prophet or a saint
I am what I am and I ate what I ainât
I wasnât there to hear what they said
If alive in BC now Iâd probably be dead
But Iâm here with you baby to see the now
Make hamburger out of the sacred cow
I donât believe a book thatâs only proof is itself
In fact Iâll just leave it up there on the shelf
Maybe Iâll listen instead of beg when I pray
Thankful for all my blessings today
Silence my thoughts in my head when I lay
Perhaps someday Iâll find my own way

Lifeâs a balance between black and white
Man and women, left and right
Good and evil, sun and moon
Birth and death, ripen ruin
What makes you think that GOD is just one
It makes as much sense to worship the sun
Maybe GODâs a goddess birthâs a mystery
Or maybe a force or a trinity
Maybe weâre angels after the fall
Or maybe there ainât no Gawd at all
Now Iâve said it bitch and you can hold me liable
Burn me as a witch when I tear up the bible
But how many children have died in Christâs name
And I bet ALLAH cried when twin towers aflame
No true god or prophet would demand that you kill
If there is hell to pay then send religion the bill

GOD talks to each of us in our own way
If thereâs awkward silence
Perhaps thereâs nothing to say
So child, donât fear darkness or Satanâs nine hells
Why donât we just take responsibility
And think for ourselves
Listen to the word
But think for yourselves

Every night when I kneel to pray
I struggle with what words to say
Amen

Killing Yourself Again

After his new-found insight, our hero goes back to his life and sees all the people that shared his bad habits are either dead, in jail, or still doing the same shit. So he asks them, why are you âkilling yourself againâ?

Killing Yourself Again

Your slashing your wrists so you bleed on the floor
And youâll do it again just like you did it before

Ingesting poisons, rotting your brain
Puke them all up so you can take them again

Go back to the monster, let him beat you some more
If you desired to end it, youâd walk out that door

Same old story
Night after night
If you keep on trying
You might get it right

Greed, envy, gluttony, sloth

Why you gotta kill yourself again
Why you gotta kill yourself again
Why you gotta kill yourself again
Again and again and again and again and againâ¦

Lost Souls

âLost Soulsâ is the title track and tenth song. It is the realization that all is lost and there is nothing that we as individuals can do to save ourselves.

Lost Souls

Lost souls are made to wander
Always searching for the light
When your world is torn asunder
Come join the armies of the night

These chains were made to hold me
On the outside looking in
But I have no right to curse them
I forged them with my mortal sin

The afterlife is constantly reliving
Every lost love, every lost fight
And though you howl and scream in torment
Nothing will ever be set right

Have no gods before ME

This is the most important song on the CD and the last. Musically, it is like a march thru HEAVEN..

Have no gods before ME

And the first commandment says
Thou shalt have no other gods before ME

Listen my children
Listen to me
Donât think you can do now
Just whatever you please
Donât think you can take from
What Iâve given to you
Without acknowledging
Oh just who made who

Have no gods before ME
I am the one
And you should listen
Like good daughters and sun

You like money donât you
You like all the pretty things that it buys
But just look at that brand new
Cadillac escapade
As itâs rusting before your eyes

Diamonds and women and men
And money and sex
Power, a beautiful home
Lust, drugs

You donât need anything between you and me
You and I are connected
Until you put some one/thing in the way

Smash it all aside
Throw it away
Have no gods before ME

I love you
Iâve always loved you
And I always will

Even when you worship something else
Sickness
And when I throw you in the fire
Forgotten
Iâll still love you
Iâll still be here
