METAL: Alternative Metal, ROCK: Punk
I Am Frankie Scrapmetal was reborn in the spring of 2006 with the addition of frontman Justin Yarbrough to the previous lineup up of guitarist Jeremy Nalbone, bassist Chris Howard, and drummer Fred Lee. After taking a couple months vacation from the music scene to regroup and produce new material, they are now back in full force, playing shows regularly in places such as Jamestown, Warren, Limestone, Edinboro, and Erie. The sound is a potent mix of alternative rock garnished with grunge/metal underpinnings, brought to life by a highly-taut rhythym section consisting of Chris''s punchy bass lines and Fred''s water-tight grooves, overlapped by Jeremy''s hauntingly beautiful melody work and his hard-hitting metal/punk riffage, layered by Justin''s post-grunge fuzz and the chorus-immersed lead rants haphazardly strangled out of his road-weary Fender. Consummated by the new frontman''s distinct vocal style and earnest, introspective lyrics, the band has forged a place for itself as one of the key players on the music scene in their hometown of Jamestown, and continues to expand both its sound and its movement beyond Western New York. Nominated for one of the Best New Band awards offered in the 2006 Chautauqua Local Area Music Showcase, Frankie Scrapmetal has shared the stage with the likes of The Prids from Oregon, Downtown Brown from Detroit, Pan Out Now from Toronto, and Otis from Erie, along with local favorites such as Aniasin, Everything Ends, and The Lost Art of a Secret.
The band has just completed work on its first record, THE ANGLE EP, now available.
