Details:
Making music for over 20 years has made Cynthia Kaarto an expert in her field. Growing up in the same part of Canada as well-known artists like Sarah McLachlan, Anne Murray and Rita McNeil has helped Cynthia to master her craft like no other experience could. She began piano lessons at age 5, accordion lessons at age 6, and wrote her first song at age 7, inspired by Burton Cummings from The Guess Who. She was interviewed by CBC Radio as the youngest songwriter ever to appear on national radio. By the age of 10, she was composing and arranging for flute, clarinet, sax, guitar, french horn, violin, viola, cello, drums, piano, and accordion. She has made cameo appearances on the popular kids'' show, Shantytown, and ATV''s Festival Plus. She received the highest mark in Sight Reading, 100%, across Canada, and represented Nova Scotia in the National Mozart Competition in 1991. Since receiving her A.R.C.T. Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music at age 22, she has been teaching, writing, and arranging ever since. Her debut CD, "World of Make Believe", completely produced, performed, and written by Cynthia, is receiving rave reviews at her gigs, where she promotes her music.
