From the desk of James Squeaky:
Can I tell you, I''ve been very close friends with Eric Crespo (of Ghost to Falco) forever now. He constantly inspires me and is one of the few people in this world that I feel like I could trust with my life. I mean that sincerely.
Before I was close friends and bandmates with Eric (Alarmist), I saw Ghost to Falco play a couple of times. The first was at a house show (Nicole Georges old house on Fremont) and I really fell in love with his music. So much so that I even sent soldier an email giving props and he replied that he was in Spain. I was like fuck, this dude travels to SPAIN!
---he must be a millionaire!
turns out he is just really good at saving his money because he''s the cheapest bastard i''ve ever met. He is the only person I know that would get up at 5 in the morning just to cook himself breakfast before having to be at work at 6:30. I know I just grab a scone or something... but eric won''t buy scones!!!!
but Eric is generous in the heart. He''s got a great perspective on the world and on art. He''s not much of a record collector. He barely listens to music because he''s too busy making it. He''ll work on music for 6 hours a day, if you let him.
I can''t believe no moderate sized label has ever stepped up to the plate and sunk some dough into Ghost to Falco. He''s done 2.5 US tours all by himself, did a bunch of shows overseas last year and in three days is heading back to Europe. He has the drive and determination that he''ll still be making music and touring long after all my other friends retire. Then one day he''ll just stop, move to the country and pick on a guitar.
Did you know that we are living in the END TIMES? The world is going to end... maybe 20 years or less. Well, at least the end of our civilization. It''s not good, it''s not bad, it just is.
So why not accept that? Eric and I have. Here''s our plan... work as hard as possible on art to live a meaningful existence before it ceases. .
So this is how we roll. That''s why you''re music can''t be boring. Your art can''t be stale. It has to be ALIVE because soon you''ll be DEAD. Why be dead now?
So Eric made this album a while ago. Some of you may have already heard it, as there was a small run on Jet''s Idea. Also recently there was a small LP run on Cape & Chalice, which I encourage you to buy for $12 here: https://www.tradebit.com Only 200 of those made. I already have one, so only 199 left!
This album is probably my favorite non-Noise album from the last five years. The music is lush and sometimes aggressive and sometimes dreamy and the lyrics are brilliant, insightful but not overdone like a thanksgiving turkey.
To the point, there is like 73 guest musicians, including many from bands that everyone in portland that likes indie rock are into. It was recorded at many different professional studios and sounds like 2 Million Dollars
But Eric and I won''t charge you that much for one of these. Only $10...
