Music for Rainy Days is a collection of preludes written after the methodology of Chopin''; that is, each prelude is written in the next key, in an ascending order of sharps and flats. For instance, Prelude number one is written in the key of C, while Prelude number two, is written in A minor (no sharps or flats). We then move on to one sharp and two sharps and so on, accomplishing the major and minor keys for each key signature.
The preludes were written back in the 1980s and 1990s; a new piece added over the period of years. Ove the years, I have composed a total of 22 preludes for the piano. They are in a modern form and nothing like Chopin''s works.
I noticed, after rambling through them this last summer, that several of the preludes; the ones you hear on this album, have a common "rainy day" kind of feel to them.
I placed them together here in this album, so that you might enjoy them in the same way that I do.
I hope you like them and thanks for listening.
The performances here are on a Steinway concert grand piano. All performances are by the composer, Michelle Ende''.
