MP3 Arbogast - Too Proud to Stick to Winners
A package of rock music - often hard enough to be called “hard rock” but seldom heavy enough for the epithet “metal”. Sometimes even unplugged.
13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Classic Rock, ROCK: Hard Rock
Arbogast was the name of the detective who was killed by Norman Bates in the Hitchock movie “Psycho”. Eversince the first time I saw the film I thought it sounded great. Several years later I named my music-project after the poor character. Later I found out that Arbogast is a semi-common name in the U.S.
The members of Arbogast are pretty much Svante Widerström and his worst friend / best enemy Svante Widerström. You could ask why; Am I anti-social? Do I have a ego-problem? Am I difficult to work with? God no! The reasons are simply the lack of similar minded musicians in the small town of Alingsås. Old musician friends have either given up playing or formed their own bands with their own kind of music. Some of them appear on Arbogast recording though. Patrick Fransson for example who played drums on the last records (and who is the founder of the metal-act Fraise in which I actually play bass).
After playing drums in the schoolboyband “Dungeon” I sang in local heavy metal acts such as “Cathedral”, “Slack Babbath” and “Fatal Tabasco” during the nineties.
Since making friends with the guitar I slowly started sketching out solo stuff and after Tabasco split I began trying to record it. The music had now lost a lot of the metal according to the fact that the guitar on which the songs were written was an acoustic, and also that I had broadened my taste in music. At the end of the nineties I enjoyed the roll of bassplayer in StingrayOne. The band only lasted a year or two after which the solorecording resumed in the form of demos of varying standards. In 2004 an Arbogast mini-CD (Something Bit Me) was released.
Later the same year I started playing bass in the band Fraise as mentioned previously. While the recording of a (second) Fraise album is nearly complete – the first full-length Arbogast album (Too Proud To Stick To Winners) has now been released.
