Details:
Rick Jarrett resides in Calabasas, California. He has been wooing fans with his silky vocals and exciting them with his dynamic stage presence for nearly 14 years in the Los Angeles area and all along the West Coast.

Rick loves to tell everyone that you are not too old to go for you dream. Rick’s prior career required more of his “left brain” as a CPA. He finally said enough is enough, left Berkeley/Oakland and headed for Los Angeles to seek his fame and fortune as an actor and singer….which leads us to here.

He recollects his attempts to get noticed as a singer when he was selected to perform at a Dodgers Hall of Fame function in Beverly Hills, where he was to sing with Don Randi, the renowned bandleader and keyboardist with his band, Quest. This combination was the opportunity Rick needed; Don Randi was and still is the owner of the then, 27 year old famous Baked Potato Jazz Club, in Studio City. “Papa Don”, as Rick calls Randi, took Rick under his wing. They toured and worked together for 2 years until Rick started his own Rick Jarrett Group now known mostly in the Los Angeles area.

In addition, Rick seized the opportunity to tour with the the famous Platters, R&B singing group (second generation) along with Francesca Robi, daughter of Paul Robi, one of the original singers in the sixties.. Rick toured the U.S. for 1½ years.

Ambitious to be a well-rounded “artist”, Rick spends his time also as an actor, having done many commercials, theatrical performances, and TV appearances ( including over 3 years on Days of Our Lives), film, as well as, musical theatre gigs.

Rick is considered to be more of a smooth jazz singer. His influences were Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Al Jarreau and Lou Rawls. In spite of assimilating some of their influences in his own style, his love for musical theatre led him to his own creation, Curtains Up!! An Evening of Broadway and Showtunes, a show that led him up and down the West Coast from LA to Washington state. It was there, where people noticed his captivating stage presence. He has a live CD called Curtains Up!! An Evening of Broadway and Showtunes.

In 2001, Rick introduced his first CD, Back to Romance, a smooth jazz compilation, of beautiful love standards led by Natalie Coles former bandleader and accompanist, Terry Trotter on the piano. Rick also chose Tom Warrington on bass, Joe LaBarbera on drums, Pete Christlieb on sax and Ron Eschete on guitar. Rick always said, surround yourself with great artists to make you sound good. It’s good marketing.

In 2004, Rick appeared in a Cy Coleman, Alan and Marilyn Bergman musical review called Like Jazz at the Mark Taper Theatre in Los Angeles. He sang duets with Grammy award nominee Patti Austin, and shared stage with Tony award winner Lilias White, Tony award winner Cleavant Derricks, Tamir Hendelson jazz pianist, and once again worked with Pete Christlieb, saxophonist( worked as part of the Johnny Carson band for 15 years). Once again Rick surrounded himself with awesome talent.

In the winter of 2006, Rick came out with his third CD, Kickin'' it!!. Considered his sequel to Back To Romance, Kickin'' it!! is a mixture of Latin, swing, old school r& b and jazz-flavored standards. It features Eric Marienthal on sax. His regular group is led by David Patt on guitar, Dave Keif on bass and Dave Hunt on drums. This CD also features Andre Mayeux on electric keyboards, Hussein Jiffrey on percussion and bass, and Johnny Friday also sat in for a drum solo.

You can find Rick stretching his musical talents mostly in Southern California and along the west coast from Southern California to Washington State, always looking to learn more and grow and be heard.

To keep is head on straight, Rick studies mixed martial arts and has earned his 1st Dan Black Belt. He says it keeps him balanced emotionally, physically and spiritually. He currently strives to achieve his 2nd degree.
