A mix of rock, country and jazz into a blend they call "electric groove roots"

11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, COUNTRY: Modern Country

Details:
In today’s entertainment world this unique combination of country, rock, blues and jazz has come to be known as Americana. While Americana can also mean many things and not just music, the music forms we know as jazz, blues, country and rock have their origins in American history with influences from other world cultures. Laslo Cameo describe their music as electric groove roots.
Formed in 2003 by Leslie Campos and Randy Bulpin, Laslo Cameo represents a unique blend of world cultures. Leslie is Connecticut born with Hungarian and Greek roots, while English born Randy was in fact raised in Australia. With individual extensive studio and touring experience, and expressing their desire to play groove-oriented roots based material, the band was quickly established. They have established themselves as a drawcard with their infectious style at some of New England’s favorite nightspots.
Randy Bulpin (guitar and vocals) was heavily influenced by the British bands of the sixties and seventies as were many Australian artists. He plays both acoustic and electric guitars, specializing in slide and dobro. In his twenty years experience as a professional touring and recording musician Randy performed with many esteemed and influential Australian artists – Mondo Rock, Ian Moss, Broderick Smith, and Jim Keays of the Masters Apprentices all platinum selling artists. Harry Vanda and George Young noted producers of AC/DC and composers of ‘Friday on my Mind’ and ‘Love is in the Air’, employed Randy as a session guitarist in their Sydney based Alberts studios where many of the great AC/DC tracks were recorded.
In the nineties Randy achieved success in Canada with a song ‘River of Gold’ co-written with Canadian/Australian artist Alex Formosa., reaching the top five on radio charts in 1992. He then extended his skills to production with the critically acclaimed Australian release the Broderick Smith album ‘My Shiralee’, which also included some of his own compositions. Currently he has a song ‘My Kingdom Come’ on the latest Jim Keays, ‘Resonator’ (Mushroom Blue) release, described as album of the year for 2006 in an Australian national newspaper’s year in review. In twenty years of touring he has seen all of Australia and New Zealand, several times over, and shared the stage with many international stars, Kriss Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge, John Prine, The Knack, Ricky Nelson, Joe Cocker, Bo Diddley, Status Quo, Uriah Heap, John Hammond, Australia’s own Little River Band and Men at Work, and interestingly Stephan Grapelli who mentioned a young Randy from the seventies in a 1983 biography by Raymond Horricks, ’Stephan Grapelli’.
He continues to write and original songs are a feature of the Laslo Cameo night. Listen for the songs ‘How Can You Lose’, a collaboration with fellow band member Leslie, ‘Stella Joy’ and ‘When my Baby’, to name but a few. Randy’s extensive studio experience has served him well as co-producer of their debut CD, and in current and future production and recording projects for other artists.
Leslie Campos (vocals, violin, and acoustic guitar) moved to Vermont from New York City where she had a successful career playing violin in a variety of bands including an all girl bluegrass/ country act called the Bushmills, and the Scott McClatchy Band, with consistent CD sales in European markets. Scott McClatchy continues to employ her fiddling skills on his albums, often sending tracks to the RioCampos studio in Vermont where Leslie adds her magic touch. She has also performed in off Broadway shows both as solo artist and an orchestral member. An asset for Leslie in the past has been that violin skills include a wide variety of styles from conventional classical to jazz, bluegrass, rock and country. She is in fact quite the multi-instrumentalist and in the future you can expect to hear compositions and performances on other instruments including piano and mandolin.
Leslie’s beautiful and sultry singing voice is an integral part of the Laslo Cameo sound, and her own songwriting abilities can be heard in the album’s title track ‘Second Avenue Serenade’, a haunting jazz/blues tribute to life in New York City. Leslie and Randy composed their first song, ‘How can you lose’ on the beach in Australia, and the duo already have a number of co-written compositions for their next recording venture.

"As a studio owner, there is nothing more rewarding to me than being part of the making of a great recording. When the Laslo Cameo CD project was completed and I finally got to listen to the whole
project from beginning to end, I was knocked out by what a great collection of tunes and performances this album ended up being! We''re very proud to have been able to be a part of this splendid new release!"
