Details:
â¦â¦.one too many zombie flicks, not enough sunshine and an imagination lost in a Spanish graveyard? Well you are not aloneâ¦gun-slingers, pimps, ice-cream men and guitarists have all come together as Memoria to create a truly unique album â The Midnight Ball-

Like a horror radio-playâ¦mixed with a tidal wave of guitars and the occasional shrieks of a distant mental asylum...Canons, grave-digging and the hypnotic melodies of the classical and spanish traditions.

Hailing from Perth, Memoria are an Australian four-piece combining influences from classical guitar, flamenco and even black metal. The debut album (recorded throughout 2006 in Perth's Dead By Dawn Studios) also features hundreds of field recordings meshed together to form atmospheric soundscapes. These soundscapes set the scene for each song and are designed to propel the listener into a world of darkness and wonder.

â¦hereâs what some others have saidâ¦

âWhen you think of acoustic guitar the last thing that pops into your mind is Metal, but thatâs exactly Western Australian act Memoria have done. Creating a Metal so heavy and down right frightening that it makes your hairâs stand on end. Titled The Midnight Ball, this 6 track disc is black and macabre, combining Classical and Spanish guitaring and twisting it into a dark vortex that conjures up spirits in black. This would be a totally original album if it were not for the obvious Opeth overtones. But Memoria take it way further than Opeth have, making The Midnight Ball a remarkable album that just has to be heard to be believed, as nothing I could possibly say can impart the brilliance of The Midnight Ball. This could even be the first acoustic BlackMetal album ever! Best album of â07 so farâ (Asher Earache â Hard and Heavy Magazine)

"Itâs sort of like the bastard lovechild of Robert Rodriguezâs El Mariachi and F.W Mernauâs Nosferatu in musical form"(Nadia Bailey â PBS 106.7 FM MELBOURNE)
