Details:
Fueled by a distaste for all that is mainstream, Mike Leporte formed his own one-man band as an outlet for a dizzying array of cosmic noise that sounds nothing like anything that anyone has ever done before. The name of this intriguing new project is Used Alien Mind, and that unique moniker is accompanied by plenty of unique noise.
“Positive Mental Theme is so irresistibly peculiar and, yeah, fun. Your normal friends will hate it!” -Jim Santo’s Demo Universe
“Brooding lo-fi noise and fractured left field indie pop…he sings like a broken amplifier.” -Splendid
“UAM’s Mike Leporte takes the listener into dark corners, sunlit playrooms, and interstellar journeys…this music is for head-tripping.” -Culture Bunker
“I love albums that take me by surprise.” -Space City Rock
Used Alien Mind’s second album, “The Placement Aside” offers a cosmic kaleidoscope of experimental noise-pastiche-blues-art-rock leanings; a slight departure from his punk-rock infused solo debut, “Positive Mental Theme”. Used Alien Mind’s new album is stylistically eclectic as a result of collaborating with long-time friends Jon Wohl, Robert Wohl, Pete Weiss and newcomer Katie Beckman on many of the songs. The album’s distinctive sound is also due in part to working in different studios, and using a mixture of lo-fi and high-end recording equipment. The end result creates a brooding, hazy array of sound collages and musical landscapes. Kick back, throw on the head phones, light up and dig the space grooves. Zonked Records
