Bob Habib is a professional percussionist living in Chesapeake, VA that has been performing and teaching percussion for over 20 years. His educational background includes degrees from Morgan State University, in Baltimore, and Thomas Edison State College, in New Jersey. He is known as one of today''s most versatile drummers and performs with several groups in the Hampton Roads area. He is the drummer for "Against All Odds", a contemporary jazz group and plays kit for "B-3 Fusion", a high powered Hammond organ fusion trio. He is currently the Principal Percussionist and the Big Band drummer for the U. S. Army TRADOC Band from Ft. Monroe, VA. Over the years, he has been fortunate to have opportunities to perform with Wycliffe Gordon (Wynton Marsalis Band), the late Frank Mantooth, The Ojay''s, Doug Miller (Count Basie Orchestra), Kathy Kosins, Louis Shatti, The Augusta Jazz Project, The Capitol Quartet and the Augusta Symphony and Opera Companies. In the Spring of 2006, Bob was a featured clinician and performer for the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. He also was the Head of the Percussion Department at the Armed Forces School of Music for five years.
His debut solo album "Surrounded by Greatness" features 18 of the best musicians in the nation and features a variety of styles and genres. Bob is the only player that plays on every song, as he revolves his cast of superior musicians around the genres that showcase their talents the best. From Hammond B-3 organ fusion to straight ahead jazz, this album will satisfy even the most finicky musical pallet!
