ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: with Live-band Production
After four albums, four hundred shows in fifty states, and four and half years as teenagers in the nationally distributed indie-rock band "spooky tuesday"(1995-2000), Kevin and Jessica Penner decided to break away and form the pop/rock trio "chandelle". The band was complete after the addition of Mandee Duyanen (bass) in 2001. The self titled album was written and recorded in 2003 in a makeshift garage studio by the band and friend/producer Travis Saunders. Within days of receiving the finished product chandelle''s song "Alaska" won top honors at BMI''s "Kauai Music Festival" landing the band a showcase in Manhattan and a spot on one of BMI''s yearly "new music samplers".
Reviewers have compared the music to artists like U2, Radiohead, Jimmy Eat World, and The Sundays. More recently, songs from the self-titled album have been featured on https://www.tradebit.com, and NPR''s "open mic" show. Chandelle has moved from Kauai, Hawaii to Los Angeles where they are performing frequently and working on a new album in their home studio "the green bean" due to be self-released in spring, 2006. Long live the dream!!
Musical influences include; Jimmy Eat World, U2, Radiohead, The Violet Burning, Weezer, Zwan, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Nada Surf, and Our LadyPeace, among others.
"Chandelle- Kapaa, Hawaii. Beautiful and touching female-fronted, emo influenced pop/rock. Reminiscent of the Juliana Theory, Jimmy Eat World, U2, with just a touch of Radiohead. Supporting full length debut. Music is charming and hooky with great vocals."

"As a promoter/producer/manager in the music industry since 1967 I have been fortunate to see and hear many great artists early in their careers. Three piece groups that cut it are rare indeed. Cream, The Police and Nirvana come to mind easily and now I add Chandelle to that list. Jessica Penner writes, sings and plays right us there with her legendary predecessors and the bass and drums fit perfectly with every note. It is my opinion that Chandelle will take it''s place at the top of the rock pile."
-John Brower, legendary rock promoter/producer/manager
"Released last June, "Chandelle" is an accomplished collection of alt-rock musings running the gamut from moody introspective power ballads to bittersweet propulsive rockers and dreamy pop. Blessed with a voice capable of gorgeously soaring highs and hauntingly hushed lows, Jessica Penner also reveals a confident lyricist more comfortable with eloquent real-life takes on love''s labors lost and found than drippy romantic hoo-ha."
-Derek Paiva, Honolulu advertiser newspaper, https://www.tradebit.com
"Chandelle is definitely a contender, smart rock at it''s pinnacle, delicate as a rose with the sting of a bee! Jessica Penner''s voice needs no help from special effects, see them once and you''re hooked."
-Danny McBride, CBS recording artist and former Guitarist for the Chris De Burgh band
