Details:
Like the Russian composer, Modeste Maussorgsky, Ina Evans has had no formal training in musice composition and no background in theory or harmony. She did study piano as a child and as a young woman. Like Maussorgsky, her compositionss flow from a deep well of musical instinct and imagination. Naturally, having lived her life near the coast, she is inspired by the sea, particularly its more peaceful moods. Her harmonies are pleasingly standard with an occasional pinch of differentness. But her real gift is for melody.
Leland Kearney edited and mentored Ina Evans'' compositional work from January 2005, until his death from cancer in July 2006. He had the musical acumen and background of experience to fullfill such a role, plus and extraordinary gift for teaching. Playing Ina Evans'' compositions was his last musical gift to those who loved and admired him.
Marietta Trainor is a talented and skilled pianist. Early piano lessons showed great promise and she continued with her studies earning a music degree from East Carolina University. Throughout her life she has been involved with music, teaching in public school, giving private lessons, performing piano and voice solos, and directing church, school and community choruses. Marietta''s mother and Ina Evans'' father were twins, and the two cousins have been close friends all their lives.
