ROCK: Soft Rock, SPIRITUAL: Christian Rock
D''Richelieu du Plessis, known by his friends as Ricky, has been involved with music since birth. His focus turned from the psychedelic rock and Folk music of the 60''s and &70''s to pursue contemporary Christian music in 1978.
This pursuit led him into a lifetime adventure playing electric guitar in bands, doing individual acoustic gigs, leading praise and worship in many churches and conducting concerts and outreaches in various places in Africa, Europe and America.
In these latter years he''s been functioning primarily as a singer/songwriter who gathers from his experiences "things old" and mixes them with "things new" in compilation packages, hopefully suited to a mix of tastes?!?!?
About "Taste Of Heaven" -
Ricky''s fascination with the Revelation of John began when he was drafted into the army and was handed a Gideon’s Living New Testament; A Gift which he held dear to himself, even as he would a personal friend. Of all the pages of this “big little book” he seemed to be glued to the chapters in the Revelation. Before he was “born again” the Revelation convicted him of his personal failure to please God. As a new Christian it seemed to focus on the judgment of the world in the last days, there were many books published in this vein which added fuel to the zeal of that subject. After a while though, it seemed as if the Lord wanted to show Ricky another aspect of the Apocalyptic Scriptures, this time as he read, his eyes were opened to the reality that everything in heaven has a significant voice, the creatures, the altar, the throne, the angels,…. Literally everything!! Plus, there was an undeniable link between heaven and earth, even to things under the earth. The significance of all these voices prophesying, making declaration, or praising were the voices which led Ricky to put music to some of these words, whether spoken or sung, and to declare the visual aspects of the heavenly realms in simple musical terms.
The 15 titles of “Taste Of Heaven” are a compilation of songs which stretch across the entire span of Ricky’s Christian music experience. They have been put together to be a blessing to the one who enjoys Scripture as the basis of worship. Keep looking forward and upward, see if you can count the stars, or, at least take a shot at it.
Please take time to listen the album throughout - It builds from beginning to end. You will be blessed.
