MP3 Edward Molby - Narwhal EP

An unholy hybrid of Pixies, Husker Du and 12th Century madrigals from the remote Yorkshire moors.

5 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: 90''s Rock

Details:
Edward Molby came together in late 2003, though some members had played together in the late 1990''s. The new venture was immediately hit with trouble when elfin guitarist Dave Ellwood turned his back on pop superstardom for a life in the Australian outback, however, the equally elfin (though somewhat taller) Cameron Fleetwood stepped boldly into the breach when all seemed lost. Buoyed by their narrow escape the band began gigging in March 2004. The sound is difficult to pigeonhole - influences from the Dead Kennedys and Fugazi to Boney M and the Beach Boys combine to produce music that is aggressive, highly melodic and usually hellishly fast, though the from time to time a vast and gloomy anthem looms above the torrent like a galleon crossing stormy straits.

Feedback from audiences at the handful of gigs to date has been excellent. The most encouraging thing from the band''s point of view is the number of people expressing their enthusiasm and the fact that no two say the same thing about the music - it''s been compared to Magazine, Pere Ubu, and even ''The Sisters of Mercy before they went Goth''. Recently they were described in The Fly as ''an unholy hybrid of Pixies, Husker Du and 12th Century madrigals from the remote Yorkshire moors. The band are mystified by some of these comments but very pleased with the great way they''ve been received.
