MP3 Circle Work - Less is More

Piano, Bass, and Drum. Each handing the other a new height to attain. One off, one take, no dubs. Nothing more real than this, think Haynes and Patatucci, think Tyner and Sharpe. Think again.

JAZZ: Traditional Jazz Combo, JAZZ: Free Jazz

An intriguing blend of musicians have released an outstanding recording of superb, gentle, original pieces, six written by Colin Hopkins and three by Belinda Moody. The CD is a sensitive, unique recording that is accessible without being predictable.

Highly regarded at home and abroad, these musicians have each worked with other jazz ensembles around the globe.

The tunes on this recording are true to the title "Less is More". Some are very simple, and quiet, a few beautiful ballads, and a couple of swinging numbers with such a deep groove you can''t resist tapping your feet! All three musicians contribute to the production equally, Anthony Floyd''s drumming marries well with Colin Hopkins'' individual style on piano while Belinda Moody''s timing is precise and her solos mellifluous.

This new CD has been well received in its homeland, copies are being rapidly snapped up by music lovers across the nation and overseas. People just love it! Carly Hammond, Kenyan-based journalist said: "I love this recording so much, I play it all the time, it is so beautiful!"

The strongest tracks on the recording include: When He Says Mate and Slumber by Belinda Moody, Borrowed Time and Minora by Colin Hopkins but the ''hit'' of the recording is most definitely the infectious tune, Harryasauras, written by Hopkins and Harry his 7? year-old son.

Acclaimed USA pianist and composer, Jessica Williams, said: "these musicians are really very good. Belinda''s (Moody) compositions are beautiful and she is a solid bass player who can really swing."

Australian national broadcaster of the number one jazz program in the country; Jim McLeod said of Colin Hopkins: "he is the most interesting improviser in the country". Added to this is the exceptional talent of drummer Anthony Floyd and you have a winner.
